Intro to Glass Fusion

Saturday, February 10th 1-3:30 pm

No experience required… (it’s easy  – once you know how). Our “Introduction to Glass Fusion” class takes you from a newbie Glass Fuser to mild mannered expert of sorts. We cover all the safety requirements, the various kinds of glass we’ll be using and practice on all the different tools of a glass fuser. During the class we’ll make a couple of 4” x 4” coasters and a 6” dish or bowl. This class is a pre-requisite to all other glass classes we offer. All tools, glass, safety glasses and instruction are included in this great introductory class.

Introduction to Needle Felting

Saturday, February 10th 1-3:30 pm

SCULPTING WITH WOOL!

You will be amazed at how much fun (and addicting) Needle Felting can be! During this introductory class you will learn about the different kinds of wool, how to start your ‘shape’ and how to bring features and character to your own creation.

Classes include needles, starter kit with 5 colors of wool, instruction and expert guidance by a very talented fiber artist! You will have time to get a great start on your project – and will be able to take your kit home to complete your project at your leisure.

Needle Felters Wool – Wine and Dyeing Class

Saturday, February 10th 4-6 pm

Learn how to dye your own wool at home.

Includes a sip or two, appies and a hands-on demonstration of how to dye your own wool.

Sign up for the Felting class first for a full day of woolie wonder.

Puppet Makers Drop In Session

Sunday February 11th 1-5:00 PM

Drop in , spend a few hours in our Puppet Makers Dream Studio & work on your own Puppet and hang out with like-minded puppetiers.

Glass Fusion Drop In

Saturday February 17th 1-4:30 PM

Now that you’ve taken our ‘Introduction to Glass Fusion Class’ – you’ll want to come back and make your own glass fusion project. We have a great ‘book of ideas’ with fantastic step by step instructions on all kinds of glass fusion projects – or better yet – come with your own idea. Pat will be on hand to help you along the way – in case you need some help or want to bounce a few ideas around. Studio time is only $10 for the whole evening. Glass cost is very reasonable – and includes all kiln firings in Big Red (our trusty kiln).

Pre-requisite: The ‘Intro to Glass Fusion Class”

Stoneware Glazing Session

Saturday February 24th 1-3:30 pm

Mix and match our different glazes to create a piece that is very unique and yours. Stoneware is brought in ‘pre-shaped’ and you apply our specialty glazes. Stoneware is very durable, holds heat well and is freezer to oven to dishwasher safe.

You have a choice of items to paint, and can do 1 or all three products

Examples are: 2 Mugs, or Pie Plate, or Tea Pot or do them all.

Comi-Con Mask Making

Sunday March 18th &  Saturday March 24th

Get a head start and be ready for the 2018 Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo in April!

Pick your best science fiction, comic book, film, television, horror, fantasy, animation, pop culture person and join us for two intense days of creating the perfect mask for your costume.

No experience required… Juanita will take you through the step by step process of making your very own highly detailed mask. With full access to our state of the art studio, you’ll start with a block of clay and end up with a beautifully decorated hand painted mask that you will be proud to wear at ComiCon. Note – this is a “2-Day” process. You will be impressed!

Puppet Mechanism Workshop Intensive

March 29-April 3  (Easter Long Weekend)

Learn the detailed work behind what makes a great Puppet.

Roll up your sleeves! This intensive workshop starts at 7PM on Thursday and carries through all the way to 2PM on Monday. Learn the techniques that you need to enhance your puppet making skills. Days are full and expect to be in various stages of puppet construction 8-10 hours each day.

Included in this packed weekend is mask work, needle felting, creating multiple mechanisms, decorating and embellishments.

Class size is limited to 6 students to allow plenty of one-on-one work.
